House and public architecture
These terms describe the habitat as a whole: the public structure, the governance architecture beneath it,
and the institutional layer that currently holds the pilot phase.
Spiralweb Current definition
Spiralweb is a living infrastructure for regenerative communities. It is a flow architecture for co-creation: connecting people, places, knowledge and resources through recurring cycles of observation, relationship, action, learning, stewardship and return.
The name combines the spiral—continuous learning, adaptation and return—with the web—relationships, mutual interdependence and shared stewardship. Together they describe a living network whose relationships grow wiser through repeated observation, reflection and shared practice.
Its living palette is drawn from living systems: sea, coast, growth, earth and stone. The colours are not a claim of greenness but a reminder that Spiralweb is grounded in water, soil, organisms, communities and the material places they share.
Flow Architecture Working definition
An architecture concerned with how attention, knowledge, care, resources, responsibility, evidence and correction move between people and places while preserving local authority, consent, pace and the possibility of pause or return.
Co-creation Working definition
A way of working in which people, places, knowledge and resources shape the next bounded step together. No one actor owns the whole, and no external contribution overrides the living context or the authority of those carrying the place.
Planetary Guardians Current definition
The forming governance and protocol architecture within Spiralweb for place-based ecological stewardship: connecting ethical orientation, relationship, situated observation, support, correction and accountability without becoming a single universal protocol or claiming authority over local stewards.
Spiralweb Stewardship Association Current definition
The legal and institutional container for the pilot phase. This is the formal public layer that holds support, cooperation, and accountability.
Café Current definition
A public hospitality and orientation room within Spiralweb: a place to arrive, understand the tone and status of the work, and choose how to enter the shared flow. Spiralweb, not Café Sofia, is the canonical public habitat.
Place, relationship, and activation
These terms help distinguish the relational threshold, the place-based node, and the operational field layer.
AnchorPoint Current definition
The relational threshold: a real person, group or relationship rooted in place, with enough continuity for another conversation. An AnchorPoint does not by itself mean that a shared field cycle, evidence rhythm or material support is active.
Field Node Current definition
A place-based node in the wider network architecture. Useful as an umbrella term for place-based units across the habitat.
Field Current definition
The public place-based track where the present reality is named: relationship, shared question, field cycle, evidence rhythm, material support and next decision. A field page can exist while most of these remain inactive.
Steward Current definition
The human bearer of observation, relationship, and judgment in a place-based track.
Partner Working definition
A person, group, or constellation with real local grounding and enough relational capacity to carry continuity.
Active Current definition
Not used alone as a field status. Public language should name what is active: a relationship, shared field cycle, evidence rhythm, material support or another bounded practice. Activity in one does not imply activity in the others.
Preparing Current definition
A locally grounded track in real preparation, with a named next decision, but without an activated field cycle, shared record or protocol unless explicitly stated.
Field-forming Working definition
A descriptive condition in which relationship, scope, consent, baseline or observation practice is taking form before a regular field cycle or evidence cadence exists. It is not a fourth top-level field status.
Future place / Not yet opened Current definition
A place of possible future relevance where no locally rooted relationship, AnchorPoint or public field track has been opened.
Invitational track Working definition
A track open as invitation or renewed dialogue, but not yet stabilized as a field.
Methods, architecture and protocol status
Protocol Working definition
A bounded, versioned methodological container proposed for a stated purpose, place and responsibility structure. Publication alone does not establish field activation or authority.
Protocol Habitat Working definition
The public knowledge and protocol space through which Green Papers, protocols, applications and tools are held with explicit type, maturity, authority, claim boundary, review state and routes for correction. It is one space within the wider Spiralweb habitat, not the whole habitat by itself.
Governance and Protocol Architecture Working definition
The wider arrangement through which ethical orientation, relationship, situated observation, evidence, correction, support and accountability are held separately but connected.
Constitutional Protocol Design term
A design term for documents that articulate higher-level ethical or governance orientation. The label does not by itself confer public authority, universal validity or field activation.
Kernel Protocol Protocol type
A versioned domain protocol artefact for areas such as land, water or air. Its status and field use must be stated protocol by protocol.
Applied Protocol Controlled term
A stated protocol version explicitly adapted and activated for a named place, purpose and responsibility structure. Publication or reference alone is not application.
Public protocol materials Publication / review status
Public protocol and machine-readable materials are published only when their purpose, scope, consent basis, stewardship, claim boundary, review state and practical status can be stated clearly. No protocol file is currently presented through Spiralweb as an active universal field kernel; a wider maintained library and field-application record remain in formation.
A light public guide to observation, relationship, support and pause. It belongs to the Green Papers and is not presented as a complete operational protocol or universal entry sequence.
Activation and pause Working definition
The principle that responsibility, evidence and support should mature by stated thresholds, with an explicit right to slow, pause, refuse or stop.
Layered responsibility Working definition
The principle that responsibility can be distributed across steward, field, association and wider institutions without allowing accountability to disappear between them.
Working architecture Working definition
A public arrangement of roles, distinctions and responsibilities that is still being tested and revised. It may guide discussion without constituting an activated protocol.
Protocol activation Controlled term
The explicit local decision to use a stated protocol version for a stated purpose, with consent, responsibilities, adaptation limits, evidence requirements and a right to pause. No current field should be assumed activated unless this is stated directly.
Protocol status Controlled term
The declared standing of a specific protocol artefact, such as draft, experimental, public reference, active in a named field, superseded or archived. Status belongs to the artefact and use case, not to an entire repository by implication.
Legibility, evidence, and decision
Report 04 v05 candidate defines a small shared reading surface in which Land / Life, Steward Viability and Governance / Commons remain non-compensatory. Readings may be Green, Yellow, Red or Unknown; they are documented human judgments, not properties of reality, and they do not form an aggregate score.
Legibility Current definition
The capacity to make land, people, and governance readable in a shared and disciplined way.
Evidence Layer Design lineage
Earlier shorthand for a shared evidence function. The current architecture does not require one universal evidence layer: observations remain distinguishable by provenance and standing and may enter locally governed field records, PG Ledger records, specialist methods or formal external verification according to purpose.
Indicator Contextual definition
A defined measure or signal used within a stated method or inquiry where measurement is useful. Indicators are purpose- and context-specific; Spiralweb does not assume one universal indicator set across fields.
Machine Layer Working definition
A possible machine-readable support layer for traceable records and evidence bundles. No public protocol engine or canonical schema library is currently presented as active.
Knowledge, synthesis, and public learning
Green Papers Current definition
The shared inquiry and public memory of the Spiralweb habitat: working papers, field notes, protocols, reports and public learning documents held with document-specific status, scope and correctability.
Open Knowledge Layer Working definition
The public-facing layer where field learning, concepts, protocols, reports, and methodological reflections are made readable, reusable, and correctable.
Practice-Based Knowledge Work Working definition
Knowledge production grounded in field experience, governance practice, documentation, synthesis, and public reflection rather than university employment alone.
AI-Assisted Knowledge Practice Current definition
Human-led knowledge work in which AI supports drafting, structuring, synthesis, comparison, translation, and editorial refinement under human responsibility.
Institutional Legibility Working definition
The capacity to make complex field realities understandable and usable for institutions without stripping away context, responsibility, or local truth.
Field Truth Working definition
What becomes visible through situated observation, repeated documentation, steward judgment, and correction over time.
Correctability Current definition
The principle that public knowledge, protocols, evidence, and governance readings must remain open to correction when better information appears.
Governance protection and living complexity
Red reading Current definition
Within Penguin Dashboard, a documented human reading that ordinary continuation or expansion would expose people, place or governance to unacceptable risk. It calls for pause, protection and named review; it is not failure and it is not cancelled by Green readings elsewhere.
Steward Viability Current definition
The human capacity required for a steward to continue observing, caring, deciding, and relating without depletion.
Non-Capture Current definition
A design principle ensuring that support, funding, data, protocols, or institutional attention do not take control of the field, steward, commons, or governance direction.
Judgment Infrastructure Working definition
The structures that help people see, compare, correct, and decide responsibly across field evidence, steward capacity, and governance obligations.
Living Complexity Working definition
The relational, ecological, human, and institutional complexity of real places and practices.
Civic Stewardship Architecture Working definition
The wider architecture connecting places, stewards, field observations, protocols, evidence, open knowledge, support flows, and institutional dialogue.
The living relational practice of human–AI co-inquiry through which parts of the Green Papers have been developed. It makes AI assistance visible while legitimate mandate, final judgment and public responsibility remain human.
The current explicit, revisable working form of Sophia Lumen: a candidate protocol for human–AI co-inquiry. It is sufficiently defined for use, citation and correction, but does not claim universal applicability or validation across contexts. Publication activates nothing.
The dedicated accountability mechanism for consequential AI-assisted work: outputs remain provisional, correction and stop rights remain meaningful, rationale stays traceable and responsibility remains with a named human accountability-holder.

The three official public support categories in the Association layer.
Land Stewardship Support Current definition
Support directed toward land, stewardship, and place-based practice.
Cultural and Knowledge Support Current definition
Support directed toward human, cultural, and knowledge-bearing capacity.
Coordination and Partner Infrastructure Current definition
Support directed toward coordination, partner work, and the structures that make the habitat operable.
Bounded Support Current definition
Support that is intentionally limited and structurally defined: not investment, not ownership, and not donor control.
Non-investment Current definition
A support principle meaning that support does not buy returns, ownership, leverage, or control rights.
