How Spiralweb works
A real place, a living relationship and enough honesty to notice what is happening can become part of a wider pattern of shared learning.
Begin with a real place
A school garden, farm corner, community plot, chinampa edge or food forest bed can make change observable. The starting area may be small or large; scale follows the land, the question, consent and local capacity.
The heart: consciously co-created food systems
Food is where soil, water, biodiversity, work, culture, health, livelihoods and community meet. Here, regenerative practice means working so food production can help restore and strengthen the living conditions on which it depends. The form follows the place: a food forest may be one expression; agroforestry, a chinampa, school garden, dryland holding, coastal or aquatic food practice, or another locally held system may be another.
What co-creation means here
Co-creation begins when people who hold the place can shape or correct the question, choose a bounded shared movement, receive something useful back, and decide freely whether to continue. A relationship, a proposal or a prepared tool is not yet co-creation by itself.
One place. One living question. One small shared movement. One useful return.
Patient establishment
Where a field involves establishing a food forest or another perennial living system, Spiralweb may work with a three-to-five-year establishment horizon. This signals continuity of relationship and care through vulnerable early years. It is not a universal ecological timetable, a promise of results or an automatic route to expansion.
The recurring flow
These movements recur and correct one another. They are not a universal sequence imposed on every place.

Build enough trust, consent and continuity to return.
Act within bounds
Take the next step the place and the people can responsibly hold.
Document and learn
Keep observation, interpretation, decision and result distinct.
Correct and return
Change, pause or stop when evidence and local judgement require it.
At the centre: a real place and local authority. Tools and support serve the loop; they do not own it.
Three things remain separate
They are not averaged together. Ecological improvement cannot conceal depleted people, hidden labour or damaged trust.

What is happening to the living place — in soil, water, habitat, species, food and other locally relevant living conditions?

Can the people carrying the work live, rest, learn and continue?

How are the relationships, decisions, resources, authority, consent and accountability holding?
What the PG Ledger is
A place-bound memory, provenance and traceability architecture that can preserve observations, decisions, uncertainty, dissent, resource flows, consequences and corrections over time. It does not govern a field, certify sustainability or replace formal accounting, science or local judgment.
Its trust claim is modest: enough local authority, documentation, transparency and capacity for correction may make the next step reasonable to support.
Optional tools for the work
Five working prototype formats may help hold observation, shared review, bounded action, decision memory and financial traceability. No sequence has been field-validated. Akena has begun using one format in Kitgum; that early use is not validation. A format is introduced only when a concrete local need makes it useful, and it may be left unused.

Support without ownership
Contributions do not buy land, governance rights, returns, veto power or control. Support carries the next honest step only where local authority, steward viability and ecological conditions can hold it.
Different capacities, one bounded movement
Local stewards, practitioners, researchers, public institutions and funders may bring different knowledge, mandates, continuity and resources. Their capacities can meet around one clearly scoped movement without becoming interchangeable: lawful institutional responsibility remains visible, and place-rooted authority is not displaced.
The bridge is co-created when roles, consent, resources, evidence and the return path are shaped together — and remain open to correction.
Learning returns
Field experience does not merely populate a record. What is learned may correct the next action, the local application, shared tools and — where warranted — the public knowledge and protocol architecture itself.
Inquiry does not move outward once. It returns from place, correction and consequence.
The Ledger remembers. The Penguin Dashboard helps people read. Neither governs.
One habitat, distinct public spaces
Spiralweb is the public habitat. Café Sofia is its hospitality and orientation room. Green Papers hold versioned inquiry and public knowledge; Fields carry operational status; Methods connect situated practice and evidence; the PG Ledger carries memory, provenance and correction over time.
Growth by maturity
A field expands only when the previous step is documented, local judgement supports continuation, steward viability remains intact and ecological conditions can carry the next move.
